The SEED School of Maryland made program history in a big way, knocking off Cambridge-South Dorchester 66-56 to capture the Class 1A state championship.

After falling heartbreakingly short in last year’s title game, SEED returned with a mission—and finished the job.

Led by senior guard Khaled Al-Mateen, who poured in a game-high 24 points, the Sabers flipped the momentum with a dominant second half.

The turning point came in the third quarter, where SEED exploded offensively and created separation. The Sabers’ energy, defense, and pace overwhelmed Dorchester, building a lead that stretched as large as 20+ points.

This win carried extra weight. Just one year ago, SEED lost to the same Dorchester squad in a tough overtime battle. This time, they left no doubt—showing growth, composure, and championship execution when it mattered most.

For head coach Eddie Green Jr. and his group, it wasn’t just about one game—it was about a journey. Years of building, learning, and coming up short finally paid off with the school’s first-ever state title in any sport.

Redemption complete. History made!
